Isotipo Vins S'Olivaret

The
estate

The S’Olivaret Estate lies at the entrance of the Serra de Tramuntana, between two iconic mountains, Puig d’es Castell d’Alaró and Puig de S’Alcadena, which define the region’s landscape. The hiking trail, Camí vell d’Orient, runs through the area and is bordered by the torrent Solleric in a charming setting surrounded by Mediterranean forest.

This family project began in 2020 when we planted our first grapevines on old farming fields abandoned for 40 years to revive the land. From the onset, we intended to produce quality wines using native grape varieties while simultaneously treating our natural environment with deep respect. We use sustainable agricultural practices to strive to have the least minimal impact on the land. Our profound regard for the biodiversity surrounding us guides us in accomplishing our mission. We planted the vines between olive and holm oak trees; many are planted on terraces supported by stone walls. The stone constructions, made with local rock, preserve the region’s architectural character while harmoniously blending in with the landscape.

The shadow the Puig d’es Castell and d’Alcadena mountains cast in the early morning and late afternoon helps our grapes ripen slowly, an essential element for developing our wines’ underlying personality. The character of our wines is further defined by the prevailing Mistral wind, which blows through very often. Apart from cooling the vines during our hot Mallorcan summers, the Mistral also helps dry them when it rains and keeps fungi at bay.

The natural beauty of our surroundings is further enriched by a mystical backstory rife with legends and fairytales that tell stories about the mountains surrounding us.

You’ll hear tales of caves with hidden treasures that trap trespassers if they attempt to steal any treasure and witches from across the mountain range meeting and spinning strings between the two mountain peaks, then jumping over them while doing pirouettes and uttering expletives. There’s the tale, or half-legend, of Cabrit i Bassa, which recounts how the Catalonian troops of Prince Alfons, known as l’Infant Alfons, heroically defended the castle fortress of Puig d’es Castell.

The Camí vell d’Orient crosses our vineyard and is the perfect starting point for entering the mountains in the direction of the Solleric and Comasema estates, the beautiful village of Orient and the Tossals Verds refuge, where it connects with the GR-221, the iconic Ruta de Pedra en Sec hiking trail that runs through the entire Tramuntana mountain range.

Behind this unique, breathtaking landscape is a team of passionate humans determined to create premium, high-quality products from these lands. Visit us to discover the estate.
